Camp Lejeune is a Marine Corps Base and Air Station located in New River, North Carolina. The base is surrounded by several water treatment plants that are supposed to clear contaminants from the drinking water to ensure that it’s safe.
The base was home to service members, contractors, civil workers, and their families for over four decades. Generations of families drank the water at Camp Lejeune and as a result, were exposed to highly toxic chemicals. The Camp Lejeune Justice Act was enacted to help victims and their families recover the compensation they deserve.

Two of the eight water treatment facilities surrounding Camp Lejeune were not following regulations and as a result, provided toxic water to Camp residents. Not only was the water itself toxic, the treatment plants failed to dispose of toxic byproducts and waste and as a result, the groundwater around the plants and in the camp was also turned toxic.

The resulting health issues tied to the contamination at Camp Lejeune include:
